Calling All Donors! AED Pack Needed for the Jolly Rovers!

At the beginning of every Rover Trip, the team gathers in a circle for a brief safety talk. We remind each other of hazards on the trail, and to always wear the necessary PPE. Indeed, Safety is always a number one priority for the Jolly Rovers Trail Crew.

We have outfitted a First Aide Pack which accompanies us on every trip, but it is missing one very important element...

An AED, or automative external defibrillator, is a medical device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, it delivers an electrical shock (known as defibrillation) which helps the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. It is our hope that we will never need to use it on our crew, but we need to consider the facts:

As one of the leading causes of death in the United States, Sudden Cardiac Arrest will affect 350,000 people this year . It can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime and at any age. An AED is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest, and it can be operated by someone with no medical background.

In order to acquire an AED, provide equipment training, and comprehensive First Aide Training for all 12 project leaders (provided by the American Heart Association), The Jolly Rovers Trail Crew will need to raise $2500.

It is our goal to acquire the AED and train project leaders by our next Full Crew Trip in one month. Your support will not only provide necessary education to your favorite trail crew, but it could also save a life.
