Blaze Engulfs Rover Headquarters

This past Friday at 12:30am, a fire was reported at our headquarters in Warwick, NY. When three engines from three different towns arrived on scene, the fire had already engulfed the right side of the building and was spreading across the roof. Thanks to the aid of the Warwick and Pine Island volunteer fire fighter force, the fire was fully extinguished by 2:30am - but it did not come without loss. The greater portion of our trail tools and equipment were largely damaged by the blaze which will undoubtedly effect the efficiency and timeline of our next projects. The cause of the fire, as determined by investigators, remains unknown.

In addition, this coming weekend, the Jolly Rovers Trail Crew had hopes to raise money to help fund the costs of the incredible services to maintaining and constructing trails that our committed members perform each week. Unfortunately, we will need to postpone the event until further notice.

Due to the large fire in our office, workshop and storage facility, all donations intended to be sold at our fundraiser have been destroyed. Ironically, the fire comes just after we have completed our service to Sam's Point Preserve - a project designed to provide relief to the park after a devastating wild fire that occurred this past Spring.

We've always put each other and each other's safety first, and we are endlessly grateful that no one was injured in the disaster. Tools, equipment, buildings - these can all be replaced, but we were only a few factors away from a true tragedy and we are thankful that we were unscathed.
